Orthopaedics in South Australia
Orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Chien-Wen Liew grew up and trained predominantly in Adelaide, South Australia. There are multiple hospitals in South Australia, including the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre, Lyell Mcewin Hospital, Modbury Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. In addition to these public hospitals, there are multiple private hospitals, all of which are used to treat orthopaedic patients.
Dr Chien-Wen Liew went to school at Scotch College Adelaide, and subsequently completed his medical degree at Adelaide University. His orthopaedic training involved moving through almost all public and private hospitals in South Australia as well as the Northern Territory. After completing his advanced orthopaedic training, he continued his training overseas, with world leaders in minimally invasive surgery on the knee, hip and shoulder. This included training on the Direct Anterior Approach to the hip for total hip replacements, and Patient Specific Instrumentation for total knee replacements. Dr Chien-Wen Liew has a passion and is specialising in conditions and operations of the knee, hip and shoulder, where he performs sports and arthritis surgery on patients aged 14 – 100.
Dr Chien-Wen Liew joined Adelaide Orthopaedic & Trauma Specialists (AOTS) in 2013, and has recently formed Adelaide’s newest orthopaedic group – Orthopaedics 360. Orthopaedics 360 focussed on a truly tailored approach to Sports Injury and Arthritis management and goes one step further in patient care and quality outcomes.
Orthopaedics 360 is soon to launch its focus on advanced arthritis care and rapid assessment and treatment for sports injuries.
