How does My Activity Tracker work

Dr Chien-Wen Liew has provided you with an Activity Tracker for your own personal use. This activity tracker is yours to keep, and is used to monitor your progress before and after your surgery on your hip or knee replacement. The activity tracker provided to you can be used without a mobile phone, but linking it to your smart phone (iOS or Android compatible) will give you a wealth more information, and will track your progress. We encourage you to monitor your steps, and to let us know how you are going on our facebook page, by taking a photo of you wearing your Activity Tracker and tagging @Orthopaedics360 in your post. We can then monitor how you are going and it is a great way to see how much you’ve improved along the way.

CHARGING your Activity Tracker

Charging your activity tracker requires you to use the included USB cable, and inserting it into the underside of the activity tracker. This can be stiff for the first time you do this. It is recommended that you charge the Activity Tracker fully before use the first time. In the photo on the right, you can see the charging port location. You need to pull the strap aside to access it. This keeps the port relatively water resistant.

Using iOS, you must search for an app called “youBand”. (Make sure you search exactly that word, without spaces in the apple App Store). When you open the app, click DEVICE and then BIND. Select the option that looks like “UARTF. Your Activity Tracker is now bound to your phone.
On an Android phone, go to the Google Play store and search for “QL Sport”. Launch the app, and connect your Activity Tracker to the app.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I wear my Activity Tracker in the pool/Shower
Whilst your Activity Tracker is water resistant, it is not recommended to fully submerge your Activity Tracker. We recommend taking it off for showers and swimming. The charging port may fill with water and corrode if you use your tracker under water.
How do I share my steps online?
Whilst the apps do not have a direct sharing capability, you can screen shot your steps and post it on Facebook, or on Google., Click the following to post onto our facebook page, or review Dr Chien-Wen Liew on Google. Alternatively, you can tag @Orthopaedics360 on a post on your own facebook page. We’d love to see what you’ve been up to after your joint replacement!
I am having trouble with my Activity Tracker
Please feel free to bring your activity tracker into the rooms if it malfunctions for us to check how it is going. The best time to do this is on a Friday morning. Alternatively, send us a message and we will try to get back to you as soon as possible.
What are the goals for steps/calories and Km
After your total hip replacement performed via the direct anterior approach or your total knee replacement performed using patient specific technology, there are no set goals that can be used across all patients. Most patients find that they dramatically increase their activity levels after their recovery from your surgery.

A goal at 3 months post operatively is to be able to walk 10,000 steps in a day. This is a great starting point, and shows that you are walking extremely well.
